INFORMATION SECURITY FOR FRAUD EXAMINERS
Abstract of Presentation
Information is a vital asset and can be the lifeblood of almost every enterprise.
Information can exist in a variety of hard copy, photographic, digital, and electronic media forms that can complicate its protection which is required throughout its life cycle from origination to destruction. Unlike physical items or assets, information can be intercepted or stolen but the proper owner can also still possess it without awareness of its loss, alteration or misuse until it is too late. In essence, the end product of an audit or a fraud investigation is information in the form of findings or an investigative report. This presentation will help auditors and fraud examiners to become familiar with the standards and procedures needed for the proper acquisition, use, storage and transmission of sensitive information, proprietary information, intellectual property, and trade secrets.
